Geotechnical Desk Study

GGC has performed the following types of desk study for geotechnical projects :

  • Aerial photography

  • Regional geology and engineering geology studies

  • Literature/Report studies

GGC plans geotechnical site investigations using existing data and literature related to the project. A desk study prior to site investigation allows a better understanding of the nature of ground and type of challenges that will likely be encountered for specific projects.

GGC’s comprehensive in-house databases as well as our access to local agencies/ departments, national and international libraries allow us to obtain the relevant data and information.

Geotechnical Site Investigation

GGC provides geotechnical site investigation to identify the soil/rock and groundwater conditions at the project sites. GGC engineers have extensive experience of on-shore/ off-shore geotechnical investigation and geophysical surveys for various types of developments, including highways and bridge, ports and airports, residential, commercial and industrial building projects.

GGC professionals are trained to interpret in-situ tests to determine the geotechnical parameters of soils and rocks, which are critical in providing reliable and cost effective solutions to the geotechnical challenges. We believe that findings at the site investigation stage assist our client to identify critical design elements and identify project costs.

GGC has experience in following geotechnical site investigations methods:

1, Intrusive Investigation

  • Test pits

  • Geotechnical boreholes

  • Collection of disturbed and undisturbed samples

  • Logging of soil samples and rock coring

  • Groundwater sampling

2, Insitu Testing

  • Standard Penetration Test (SPT)

  • Field Vane Shear Test (FVT

  • Cone Penetration Testing (CPT)

  • Dilatometer Testing (DMT)

  • Field Permeability Test

  • Packer Permeability Test

  • Plate Load Test

  • Field CBR Test

  • Dynamic Cone Penetrometer Test (DCPT)

  • In-situ Density Test

3, Non-intrusive Investigation

  • Geophysical Survey

  • Walkover, drive over surveys

  • Geological and outcrop mapping
